Dueling Rules
Dueling Club:
Unregulated Dueling:
How To Play:
Want to be a player? Indicate it in your application. In your application distribute points allotted in each year to the four statistic categories: Strength. Dexterity. Magic. Constitution. In a duel, statistics provide benefits during randomized dice rolls.
A benefit will be given if a stat is higher than an opposing "weaker" stat:
S > C
S < D
D > S
D < M
M > D
M < C
C > M
C < S
Available Points to Allocate:
1st Year: 10 Points
2nd Year: 20 Points
3rd Year: 30 Points
4th Year: 40 Points
5th Year: 50 Points
6th Year: 60 Points
7th Year: 70 Points
There are no limits to how many points one can collect, but a 7th Year starts at 70 Points and will not be able to collect as many points (through training threads) as a 1st Year eventually would be able to - this is to promote the creation of younger characters in the long run.
Duels:
Each duel begins with a staff post indicating the beginning of the duel. Each player starts with 25 Health Points and is given then 24 hours to respond with a spell. After posts are made, rolls will be done to see which action is successful and how much damage this action applies based on the statistics of the duelist being hit (ex. If the duelist has a strength #4 but the opposing player has dexterity #5 then the damage dealt is 1). Playing a defensive spell in response to an offensive one will minimize damage (up to 10 points depending on the power of the defensive spell).
Protego - Between 1 and 3 protection.
Protego Maxima - Between 4 and 7 protection.
Protego Totalum - Between 7 and 10 protection.
If a post is not made within 24 hours the match is forfeited to the opposing duelist. The player that depletes all of the opposing duelists Health Points wins the match and 5 House Points. Healing is NOT possible.
- Official duels take place on long stages that do not have much width to move upon.
- It is customary for opponents to bow to each other before engaging in a duel.
- All school regulated duels are allowed with the exception of spells that torture, severely injure or kill the opposing duelist.
- School regulated Dueling Club hands out the Dueling Cup to the ultimate champion at the end of the year along with 70 points to the winner's house.
Unregulated Dueling:
- All spells are used.
- "Seconds" are a commonplace concept. These are often a trusted companion of the first duelist that take the place of the first duelist when said duelist can no longer continue the duel.
